Whole

This series showcases the softness and beauty in men. Queerness as wholeness instead of the broken way the media often portrays us. Elements of both femininity and masculinity simultaneously, in one form, in each human. An opportunity to view bodies as they are, capturing passion, and rapture from gaze. Reclamation and ownership of who we are. Emboldened and Coy. Gentle and powerful. Lovely and flawed. Honest empowerment without disguise. A simple awakening of what is present and what is to come.

These images are printed as cyanotypes on watercolor paper. The blue and white tonality gives the pieces a lightness and presence. When I made my first cyanotype I remember thinking of the painterly quality of the finished piece. Printing on watercolor paper allows me to mimic the softness of the subject matter.

I graduated from Humboldt State University in the Spring of 2013 with a BA in Studio Art and Art Education. After graduating I moved to Portland, OR and have lived here ever since. I have showed work in Solo and Group exhibitions in Arcata and Eureka, CA as well as Portland & Astoria, OR.
